Kim Myeong-min-starrer Man of Vendetta crossed the 1 million viewers mark 19 days after its nationwide theatrical release in Korea.
The Woo Min-ho film has generated an estimated 7.5 million KRW in ticket sales since its July 1st release, according to Korea's Nationwide Computerized Box Office Data System (KOBIS).
Despite its "teenager restricted (18-year +)" rating from the Korea Media Rating Board (KMRB), Man of Vendetta currently holds 6th place in the boxoffice, after strong Hollywood films The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Shrek Forever After and Knight and Day, and local movies 71-Into the Fire and "Moss".
Now on its 3rd week in theaters across Korea, Man of Vendetta centers on once devoted pastor Joo Young Soo whose life overturns when he loses his 5-year old daughter to a kidnapper (Eom Gi-joon). A fateful phone call one evening that tells him that his daughter (Kim So-hyeon-I) whom everyone thought was dead is actually alive brings Joo Young Soo to a desperate journey to bring back her back.
Man of Vendetta also stars Park Joo-mi on the role of Joo Young Soo's wife. The movie is produced by iFilm and I Love Cinema.
